This sixty to ninety minute session is intended as an introduction to The Lexile Framework for Reading and is perfect for meetings, conferences and professional development days. Additionally, this session can be customized to address the needs and questions of parents and publishing/testing partners. (Available on-site or via a live web session) Topics covered include:

  • The development of the Lexile Framework for Reading
  • How Lexile measures can be used in a school, district, or home to support reading growth
  • Using Lexile measures as a benchmark for gauging college and career readiness
  • The importance of reading over the summer to combat summer learning loss

Half-Day Workshop: Foundations of The Lexile Framework for Reading

Intended for: Curriculum administrators, principals, testing coordinators, librarians and media specialists

This half day (3 hours) workshop explores the fundamentals of The Lexile Framework for Reading. This workshop provides an overview of how you can use Lexile measures in schools and classrooms to successfully manage your reading instructional programs and resources. Topics covered include:

  • Understanding Lexile measures as indicators of text complexity and reading level

Full-Day Workshop: Applying The Lexile Framework for Reading*

Intended for: Teachers (all content areas), reading specialists, curriculum administrators, librarians and media specialists

Discover how you can make Lexile measures actionable in the classroom. The full-day workshops provide extensive, interactive training on how to use The Lexile Framework for Reading to maximize student reading growth. Attendees will participate in group activities that provide hands-on learning experiences that will impact day-to-day decisions about reading and instruction. Information and classroom simulation activities will help participants set measurable goals for students, as well as monitor, differentiate and evaluate reading instruction. Topics covered include:

Intended for: Media specialists, public librarians, school librarians, parents and community leaders 

The Lexile Framework for Reading may be utilized in both public and school libraries to facilitate text selection and reading growth. This sixty to ninety minute session includes information relevant to not just media specialist and librarians, but community leaders and parents. Topics covered include:

  • The development of the Lexile Framework for Reading
  • What Lexile measures mean
  • How Lexile measures may be utilized to support text selection and facilitate reading growth
  • The effects of summer learning loss and the importance of summer reading programs
  • Parental and community involvement in literacy growth
  • How media specialists can support the curriculum

 

The Lexile Framework for Reading and Response to Intervention

Is your school or district in the process of building or revising your Response to Intervention (RtI) plan? MetaMetrics Professional Development can help facilitate the process of planning, building, and implementing RtI plans across schools and districts.

MetaMetrics now offers interactive workshops on the Lexile Framework and Response to Intervention. In these sessions we review the core principles of an effective RtI program and explore essential questions for tier 1, tier 2 and tier 3. Attendees will participate in group activities to establish the outcomes of a successful RtI plan as well as discuss the screeners and programs your site is currently using. Our facilitators will lead participants in discussing fidelity of implementation and guide the establishment of best practices. We will also analyze your site's data and explore ways in which the Lexile Framework may be used to measure progress and growth. On request, our facilitators will also lead discussion on the vital role of parental and community involvement in the success of an RtI plan.

 

The Lexile Framework in Action: Making Curriculum Content Accessible to ALL Students

Take your Lexile professional development to the next level! ‘The Lexile Framework in Action: Making Curriculum Content Accessible to ALL Students’ is the perfect next step to our introduction to the Lexile Framework for Reading. Curriculum coaches, content specialists, classroom teachers, and media specialist will be guided in the development of units of targeted text and resources to meet the needs of all learners. The units developed in this course will incorporate your state standards using curriculum guides already developed by your school district. Attendees will take their background knowledge, developed in the introductory session on The Lexile Framework for Reading, and apply it to create curriculum specific units.

Working in grade level and/or content area teams, our facilitator will lead the group in using resources already in place to support instruction that will help engage all learners. These units will be developed using the online databases provided by your own state or school district. And the Lexile linked resources will be targeted to the range of reading abilities within each classroom.

Please note: To get the most out of this session, districts and schools must have access to a Lexile linked database, e.g. EBSCO, ProQuest, etc… Additionally, districts and schools should utilize an interim benchmark assessment so that students receive Lexile measures several times/year. Participants should have taken one of our introductory Lexile Framework for Reading professional development sessions and be well versed and knowledgeable in the Lexile Framework for Reading.

 

Train the Trainer: The Lexile Framework for Reading

Intended for: Professional development coordinators, literacy coaches and intervention specialists 

This premium 2.5 to 3 day workshop will equip and enable you to lead your own Lexile workshops across your own school or district. This workshop provides thorough training not only on the Lexile Framework, but on how this material can be communicated across audiences and implemented throughout your district. This multi-day session is limited to small groups and requires intensive participation. All participants will be provided relevant training materials, including PowerPoints and supplemental material. The Train the Trainer workshop will cover:
