Fit of the Lexile Theory to Sequenced Units from Eleven Basal Series
The purposes of this paper are to (1) briefly review the use of basals in U.S. classrooms, (2) describe the method of construct definition, (3) present an overview of the Lexile theory, (4) present evidence for the fit of the Lexile theory to sequencing of units in eleven basal reading series, (5) examine some of the implications of these findings.
