How to get a Lexile® Measure
Students can receive a Lexile measure from many different reading tests and programs
MetaMetrics does not publish tests that report Lexile measures. There is no "Lexile test" on this website. Instead, we partner with state departments of education and test publishers to create assessments or link existing assessments that can report students' reading scores as Lexile measures.
Please refer to the left box for a list of reading tests and programs that can report Lexile measures.
What if I don't take any of these tests?
If your students or children currently do not receive a Lexile measure, you can still informally connect them with books and track their reading progress by monitoring the Lexile measures of the books they read.
You also can use our Find a Book search to estimate a child's Lexile range based on the most recent grade he or she has completed and his or her overall comfort with the materials at that grade level. Find a Book will generate a list of books that typically fall within the child's most recent grade completed. Then, you and the child can search for other books around that range, stepping up the Lexile measures of books to challenge the child as he or she grows or decreasing the Lexile measures of books if the child is expressing frustration.
